Biography
Inspired foremost by metalcore outfits like Alpha Wolf, Within Destruction and Knocked Loose, German nu-metalcore band Hive Leader strives to further evolve the genre by exploring the diversity of metallic noise and delivering both personal and admonitory lyrics through contrasting vocals. All this is embedded into a package of fast-paced riffs, groovy rhythms and punishing breakdowns.
Hive Leader was founded in early 2022 in Augsburg, Germany by vocalists Andi and Flo, guitarist Alex and drummer Juli. Agreeing early to the general stylistic direction of nu-metalcore, Alex – already having brought a finished song idea to their first meeting – took over songwriting duties with the aim of pushing the genre to the next level by experimenting with sound overall, while also having the demand to try something different with each song. Later on, Jakob and Joshi were added as second guitarist and bassist, respectively. Over the course of the year, rehearsals and songwriting for their debut EP took place, and the name for the band was also found.
Live performances for Hive Leader began the year after, with their first show being self-booked and already an early success. With the support of FOH engineer Jakob Hirlinger-Alexander – currently also main engineer for Necrotted, Accvsed, Defocus, xArise and Shores of Lunacy – and frontman Andi’s lighting engineering skillset, their shows were already able to convince production-wise at an early stage. Since then, they played various smaller club shows and regional festivals like Raptor Festival and Wisdom Tooth Festival, while also already having taken the opportunity to support for major bands like Alpha Wolf, Born of Osiris, Distant and Thornhill. Their biggest show to date took place in Berlin in later 2024, where they opened for major UK-based tribute band L1nkn P4rk in front of a crowd of one thousand people.

Music
In early 2025 they released their debut EP “Our Remains As A Memorial“, with lead singles “Major Extinction Event” and “Judgment Time” already having been released in the year before. Lyrically, both these songs highlight world-ending scenarios, with one less fictional than the other. Further topics on the EP revolve around the abusive nature of cults (“Creed“) and breaking out of societal norms (“Parasitic Minds“).
In summer 2025, they released a rap metal cover of the song “Bir” – originally by german rap duo Mehnersmoos – which had already been well received by their live audiences when they began performing it the year before. A mini cover EP “Bier” followed shortly after, further including songs originally from both american comedy metal band Psychostick and german beat producers Drunken Masters in collaboration with rapper Maxim KIZ.
Their first full-length album – set for 2026 – has also been in the works for a while now, where they are working to develop and personalize their style even further.
